Questions & answers about recycling knives, ripper teeth and wear parts

Answers on pricing, manufacturing to drawing, materials, framework prices and lead times. Your question isn't here? Ask it directly via the enquiry form.

Are there fixed prices for recycling knives and wear parts?

No. For technical wear parts there are no flat per-piece prices. The calculation considers dimensions, material grade, heat treatment, annual volume, production batch size, target price and repeat requirement.

What information does ReCutec need for a quote?

Helpful are a drawing, sample or photo; dimensions; material and hardness if known; quantity; annual demand; desired production batch size; target price; and desired delivery date. The more complete the details, the more precise the calculation.

Can ReCutec manufacture without a technical drawing?

Yes. An existing part, sample or dimensioned photo is often enough as a starting point for a reproduction. For high dimensional accuracy and series production, an additional drawing is recommended.

How long does manufacturing a custom part take?

Lead time depends on material, geometry, heat treatment and current capacity utilisation and is communicated individually per enquiry. For common standard articles, short-notice delivery is often possible.

What is a production batch size and why does it matter?

The production batch size is the number of pieces produced in one manufacturing run. It affects unit cost, set-up effort and delivery rhythm and is matched to annual demand and stocking strategy.

From what quantity is a framework agreement worthwhile?

Even with a few recurring call-offs per year a framework price can be worthwhile, as it reduces procurement effort and secures availability. The exact threshold is reviewed per part.

Which materials does ReCutec use for recycling knives?

Depending on the load case, cold-work and hot-work tool steels, high-speed steel (HSS), tough alloyed quenched-and-tempered steels or carbide-tipped special designs are used.

Does ReCutec also manufacture small quantities?

Yes, custom builds are possible in small to medium batch sizes too. The economics of the batch size are shown transparently in the quote.

Does ReCutec also deliver wear parts needed at short notice?

For common standard dimensions we keep articles in stock that can be shipped at short notice – to the same material standard as custom builds.

What is the difference between a ripper tooth and a shredder knife?

Shredder knives cut material primarily by cutting, while ripper teeth tear and break down coarse material through tensile and impact loading. Both are used depending on plant type and feed material.

What is ReCutec's relationship to Nagler Normalien GmbH?

ReCutec is a brand of Nagler Normalien GmbH and specialises in industrial knives, ripper teeth and wear parts for the recycling industry.

How do I submit a drawing or sample?

Drawings or photos can be uploaded directly in the enquiry form on the contact page. Alternatively, they can be sent by email.

Does ReCutec also offer carbide-tipped special designs?

Yes. For highly abrasive feed material we check carbide-tipped or hard-faced designs and weigh the extra cost against the service-life gain.
